Collection & Recovery

Drink - Crush - Collect and recycle!

There are 10 million people living in the Czech Republic and 5 million people living in Slovakia. How many of them do you think have the possibility to collect their waste selectively? Alright! All of them!

This is how it works:

First of all please always pay attention on how the collection bins are labeled. Usually the labels tell you which empty packaging material belongs in which container. But generally, there are three ways for collecting and recovering your cans in the Czech Republic as well as Slovakia: At collection sites, collection centres or buy-back centres. Use it for your empty beverage cans!

1) Collection sites

At collection sites you find coloured collection containers mostly for these types of waste: paper, plastics, glass and beverage cartons. The system of collection at collection sites is different in Czech Republic and Slovakia but also differs from town to town. Note that the labels always tell you, which waste belongs to which container.

Czech Republic:
Currently in some cities like Ostrava or Opava, the beverage cans are collected together with plastics in the yellow container, in Brno in collection centres.  Also in Praha, the separate collection of empty beverage cans has already started. Have a look!
Note: Always have a look on the labels. They tell you what to do. You can also have a look to your municipal's web page or make a call. But if you're not sure, where to put your cans, you can always go to the nearest collection centre.

Slovakia:
Generally there are several metal containers throughout Slovakia, but a lot of the Slovak cities also collect beverage cans together with plastics in the yellow container.

Note: Always have a look on the labels. They tell you what to do. You can also have a look to your municipal's web page or make a call. But if you're not sure, where to put your cans, you can always go to the nearest collection centre.

Yellow container / bag

The yellow container or yellow bag is usually for collecting plastic (bottles, bags, ...). But in a lot of Czech and Slovak cities, they are also used to collect metals.

Czech Republic:
In Ostrava and Opava beverage cans belong to yellow containers together with plastics. Brno, yellow container: PET-bottles, beverage carton, other plastics. Ostrava, yellow container: mixed plastics, beverage carton, metal packaging Opava, yellow containers and yellow bags: mixed plastics, beverage cans. Praha, pilot project of beverage cans collection: various grey containers only for collection of beverage cans.

Slovakia:
A lot of the Slovak cities collect beverage cans together with plastics in the yellow container.
Note: Always have a look on the labels. They tell you what to do. You can also have a look to your municipal's web page or make a call. But if you're not sure, where to put your cans, you can always go to the nearest collection centre.

entres

Cans and tins of a certain quality will be taken and you will get some money in return. You find usually the conditions (quality, price list, ...) at the web page of individual private buy-back centres. Keep in mind that maybe not all centres take back your cans.

Slovakia:

By this you safe space at home, as well as in the container collection bins and in the collection vehicle. By the separate collection of beverage cans you safe natural resources, lot of energy and reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases.
